RMHA Executive & Directors’ Meeting

February 16, 2010

Present:  Al Adams, Shane Leer, Ellen Bonde, Linda Justinen, Peggy Bensmiller, Dean Schweder, Rachael Hirsch, Kelti Bolton, Laureen Johnson, Trish Datema, Brad Dewing, Toni Alexander, Rita Hillier.

 Absent:  Tina Rose, Pee Wee Director, Lisa Perkins, Krista Gates, Tammy Davis.

 President All Adams called the meeting to order. Laureen Johnson moved the minutes adopted as prepared by Ellen Bonde and posted on the website. Shane Leer seconded the motion, which was carried.

 Al Adams reported that NCMHA is using Olympic rules for overtime this year. He also stated that there was a scheduling mix-up in WCMHA Novice league, which caused problems. Al excused himself from the meeting to coach his team.

 Linda Justinen presented a treasurer’s report. Kelti Bolton moved the report adopted as presented. Peggy Bensmiller seconded the motion; carried.

 Toni Alexander presented the concession statement. Peggy moved the statement adopted as presented. Kelti Bolton seconded the motion, which was carried.

 Director Reports

Tykes – Trish Datema reported one player has moved to Red Deer and another can no longer attend. The Tykes are finished, as only 10 are showing up.

Novice – Laureen Johnson explained the scheduling mix-up, which needs to be fixed.

Atom – Lisa Perkins sent a written report outlining problems that need to be dealt with.

Pee Wee – Peggy Bensmiller reported the tournament went well. No issues.

Bantam – Kelti Bolton reported the tournament was successful. Issues seem resolved.

Midget – Peggy Bensmiller reported attendance issues. The A team is in Provincials.

 Fundraising - Rita Hillier reported that she has sent out 30 fund-raising request letters to prospective sponsors.

 Vice President - Shane Leer reported that the coach mentorship program was well-received by the coaches, though attendance is down now because of play-offs. There will be a wrap-up meeting next week.

President - Al Adams rejoined the meeting.

Clinic/Risk Manager – Rachael Hirsch asked if there was interest in another paid Goal clinic. It was decided that it was too late in the season. A Novice Goal Clinic will be held with RMHA coaches and Midget players instructing. A Thrive Checking Clinic is planned for second-year Atoms.

Coach Co-ordinator – Dean Schweder reported a good year with coaches.

Referee-In-Chief – Braw Dewing reported that he has been selected as R-I-C for the AA Bantam Provincial Play-offs in Innisfail.

New Business – Directors please tell your parents about coach, manager, safety person, volunteer award nominations. Forms are available in the concession. Please turn in nominations by the AGM on Mar. 8.

Tim Horton’s will donate individual medallions for Tykes and Dynamite teams. Novice players will also have individual medallions sponsored.

Player profiles to record attendance and attitude were introduced and discussed. Peggy Bensmiller moved to consult HA to ask about liability issues. Trish Datema seconded the motion; carried. The idea will be discussed further at the AGM.

Kelti Bolton moved the meeting adjourned.

Awards Night is March 18, 2010 at the Lou Soppit Center at 7:00pm.
